SUNSHINE SLOPER WINS THE GOLD AT ANNUAL MEETING CHALLENGE CUP
MIAMI, FL— The U.S. Olympic team may have Shani Davis, but the Sunshine Slopers can boast on Juan Mosley, who won two gold medals at the Annual Meeting Challenge Cup at the Mini-Summit held in Banff Canada Feb. 11-18, 2006. He won the gold in Advanced Male Skiing and Advanced Male Snowboarding.
Juan joined the Sunshine Slopers in 1997 and began snowboarding three and a half years ago. “I watched a lot of DVDs and videos of skiers and snowboarders to hone my technique,” he said. “I can’t get out to the mountains like some of the skiers who live in northern climates, but I visualized and practiced until I got it right,” he said. Juan, who works at Florida Power and Light, was introduced to the Sunshine Slopers Ski Club by his friend, Ken Washington, who has been a member for a number of years.
The Sunshine Slopers recently celebrated its 15th anniversary and currently has some 220 members.
